Nostrification for Ukraine
It's a common practice to get nostrification (recognition procedure) of foreign educational documents for further employment based on a diploma and transcripts in some destination country. When some documents are nostrificated or recognized, it means that they are recognized in the terms of standards and norms of the state where such documents are supposed to be used then. There can be some little differences in the procedure itself, but in general nostrification is similar in Ukraine, Slovakia, Poland, Russia and other countries of the world. As a rule, Ministry of Education or its authorized agencies are empowered to conduct recognition procedures in different states.
In Ukraine Ministry of Education and Science, namely its Nostrification Centre, is authorized for the above-mentioned procedure. It performs all required actions to recognize a foreign degree and check authenticity of submitted original documents. The result of this work is the official certificate of recognition issued by Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine reporting about recognition of subjects studied and marks obtained abroad. Having received such a certificate of recognition, an applicant can use his/her educational documents in Ukraine. To successfully carry out nostrification a list of requirements should be fulfilled, like notarized translations of educational documents into Ukrainian and submission of originals. To make the whole procedure faster it's recommended to apostille/legalize documents prior to their nostrification. In this case they can be processed within 10 working days. Otherwise it can take about 30-40 working days instead.
In Ukraine this nostrification procedure can be required for specialists holding a foreign degree for employment, scientific work and other reasons, even when an applicant is a Ukrainian resident. But to make it right it'd better empower some professionals (like a translation company or legal company), though this procedure is not so much complicated. But it has a lot of minor details that can significantly affect nostrification (recognition).
